A realistically imaginative historical fiction that postulates on the early lives of the Stieffs. While technically a work of fiction, the book is based on firm history uncovered in the past 70 years, primarily through the efforts of Esther Clark Wright, Rainer Hempel, and Les Bowser. The author spent many days in Germany, Pennsylvania, and New Brunswick, getting a feel for the areas where his ancestors lived. He also researched the history of German emigration to America in the 18th century. The result reads more like a novel, making it an easy way to learn the history.
